Juarez celebrates 364th birthday, inaugurates new letters
JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) -- Juárez was founded 364 years ago on December 8th by Fray García de San Francisco. To commemorate the town's founding the city held several events.
They began with a mass at 8:00 a.m. in the Cathedral and then placed a wreath at the monument of the city's founder, located outside the Guadalupe Mission. Later, the municipal president, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, toured the "16 de Septiembre" Avenue to inaugurate the new Juárez letters.
Subsequently, a festival was held on Juárez Avenue at 6:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. the lighting of the Christmas tree in Zaragoza boulevard was inaugurated. On Saturday morning, the “Chuleando El Chamizal” campaign will take place, followed by other activities in the "Plaza de la Mexicanidad" beginning at 2 p.m.
A singing choir composed of 300 children will serenade the city. There will also be a photographic exhibition of urban tribes and videos will be projected on the "Equis" monument.
