Troopers chase 15-year-old El Pasoan, charge him with human smuggling
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A CBP Air and Marine helicopter helped track down an alleged 15-year-old human smuggler in Northeast El Paso today. That is according to a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Texas DPS Troopers started chasing the unidentified 15-year-old driver around 9 a.m. Friday morning after he allegedly committed several traffic violations near Railroad Drive and Tetons Drive.
The spokesperson explained to ABC-7 that when the Trooper turned on his lights and sirens, the driver sped up and drove at speeds up to 80 mph until he was finally stopped at the intersection of McCombs Street and Grouse Road. The helicopter stopped in the chase, officials say.
The spokesperson says troopers found five undocumented migrants in the car. They charged the 15-year-old El Pasoan with human smuggling and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. The troopers turned the migrants over to Border Patrol. No one was injured in the incident.
