El Paso police release video of man sought as possible witness in unsolved September murder
EL PASO, Texas -- Police released video Wednesday showing an unidentified man sought for questioning as a potential witness in the September unsolved murder of a local El Paso musician and Cincinnati neighborhood fixture.
Sgt. Javier Sambrano said the "security video shows a man that was by the victim, and could have critical information on this case." The video came from a McDonald's restaurant at 2401 N. Mesa Street. (You can watch the video in the player at the top of this article.)
The victim, 63-year-old Chester Charles Woodward, was found on the ground lying next to a bus bench at the Sun Metro stop at Stanton Street and Cincinnati Avenue late night on Sept. 18. Authorities said he had been stabbed multiple times and later died at University Medical Center.
Friends of Woodward told ABC-7 at the time of this death that he had enjoyed a night out at one of the Cincinnati district’s bars when he was mugged for his money and had his throat slashed; investigators have never confirmed those details and no arrests have been made to date in the attack.
El Paso police asked that anyone knowing the identity of the man in the surveillance video contact Crime Stoppers by calling 566-8477-TIPS or going online to crimestoppersofelpaso.org.
Sambrano emphasized that anyone providing information through Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
