Registered sex offender arrested after thousands of child porn images allegedly found inside his El Paso home

EL PASO, Texas -- A 34-year-old registered sex offender was being held Monday in the downtown jail on $300,000 bond, accused by El Paso police of possessing thousands of images of child pornography.

Police said the arrest of Chad Michael Redenius came after detectives said they discovered several thousand illegal images during a search of his home in the 10000 block of Galveston late last week.

Detectives said they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about Redenius' internet activity that led them to get a search warrant from a judge.

Police identified Redenius as a convicted sex offender, but provided no details about his prior crime.
