Police search for killer of central El Paso man found shot dead outside apartment

UPDATE, July 6: Police on Tuesday identified the victim fatally shot over the holiday weekend in central El Paso and labeled the death as a case of murder.

59-year-old Ethan Darnell Dorsey was found by officers outside of his apartment at 3905 Pierce Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities said he was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives said their investigation was ongoing; there was no word of any arrests yet.

ORIGINAL REPORT, July 5: EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso police are investigating a deadly shooting in central El Paso.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Monday on the 3900 block of Pierce Avenue.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead. Police have yet to say if the victim was a man or a woman.

No arrests have been made yet.
