Clint teachers excited, nervous about start of new school year amidst pandemic

CLINT, Texas -- After a year of teachers and students being away from the classrooms, it is now time for schools to return to normal.

Although the largest adjustment has been for students - it has also been a challenge for teachers and administrators, including those in the El Paso region.

Educators are going back to the classroom, even with new difficulties present.

"Besides all the emotions, like nervousness seeing the kids for the first time, it feels very good to actually have kids back in the classroom," said Heather Lopez, a pre-kindergarten teacher for the Clint Independent School District.

But she also admits being concerned about Covid-19.

"It was a little scary at first, it was. Just because of everything you hear with Covid, it was a bit scary coming in. But for the most part, my kids wear their masks and I have been wearing my mask," she said.
