EL PASO, Texas -- For a third day in a row, El Paso is reporting another triple-digit spike in new coronavirus cases.

The El Paso Department of Public Health said there were 105 additional infections on Saturday, no no new deaths and a small decrease in hospitalizations.

The Covid-19 death toll in El Paso still stands at 58. The number of patients currently hospitalized dropped slightly from 119 to 116, health officials said. But one more person was listed in intensive care, bringing the total now to 66, and 22 of those patients are on ventilators.

Not included in the death toll is the mother of an El Paso Community College trustee who died Friday afternoon. She is not yet part of the health department's official count because officials say there is typically a lag in reporting deaths to complete the epidemiological investigation. The deceased woman's husband is one of those patients who is on a ventilator.

Of the total of 2,265 cases to date, 999 are currently active. Since the start of the pandemic, 1,208 El Pasoans diagnosed with the virus have recovered

El Paso city and county leaders have expressed concern that the Memorial Day holiday weekend will fuel the recent surge in cases as people ignore warnings to avoid mass gatherings.

The Department of Public Health has published the latest virus data here.

  1. When you test more you get more positive cases. You know what else you get? More negative cases. I sure would love to see those numbers but we probably never will because it doesn’t fit the Chinese virus narrarive.

    1. When they post the graphic (which why they haven’t today, I don’t know) it shows the negatives. It’s been posted almost daily for weeks. You’re full of shit. And before you call me leftist or some other stupid covidiot shit, I’ve been calling it Wuhan Flu since day one.

  2. under report the positives, add any deaths you can to the positives. This article is clear with no special math needed to figured out exactly what they are trying to report

  3. The longer the lock down, the longer it will take for this menace to be diminished. Close quarters keeps the virus active. Open air, sunshine, common sense will do the trick until a vaccine is found.
Fauci says extended stay-home orders could cause ‘irreparable damage’. They all ready have. This idiotic response from our scientist of stay-home is working against people and the economy.
