The most haunted places in El Paso, according to El Pasoans
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 has compiled a list of the most haunted places in El Paso, according to El Pasoans.
We asked people from across the city what they believe to be the most haunted spot in the Sun City.
The following places are ranked based on the number of responses each received.

10. Plaza Theatre
From ghostly apparitions to lights turning on and off on their own, El Pasoans have many tales of the possible haunting of El Paso's iconic downtown theatre.
9. Old William Beaumont Hospital
El Pasoans have reported numerous spooky sightings inside the hospital's walls. The army moved its hospital to a new campus in 2021, and the older building is now being used by the VA.
8. Ysleta High School
From purported sightings in the 100-year-old building's hallways to stories of ghostly activity on the football field, many El Pasoans say Ysleta High takes the title as the Borderland's second most haunted high school.
7. Monteleone's Ristorante
The building that houses the Italian restaurant is more than 100 years old. The building served many roles over the years before becoming a restaurant. The eatery's owner himself has hinted in the past to the business' paranormal side.
6. Loretto Academy
Since the 1930s, generations of El Pasoans have kept the story of the person who haunts the Loretto Academy bell tower alive. People say that someone once died either inside or nearby the tower.
5. De Soto Hotel
Ghost stories surrounded the De Soto Hotel in Downtown El Paso for years, and persisted even after the historic burned in a fire in February 2022.
4. Southwestern General Hospital
First opened at the turn of the 20th century as a tuberculosis sanitarium, the hospital eventually started offering general care, before becoming a long term care center almost two decades ago. Many El Pasoans keep stories of a nurse who wanders the halls and a ghostly maintenance worker in the elevator alive.
3. Concordia Cemetery
Concordia Cemetery is the final resting place of many important people in El Paso's early history, including the legendary outlaw John Wesley Hardin.
2. El Paso Public Library Main Branch
The main library branch downtown gets its #2 spot due to the fact that it used to be a cemetery. Many graves were relocated to the current Concordia Cemetery. The library's history has since generate legends among El Pasoans of its paranormal nature.
1. El Paso High School
El Pasoans seem to be in agreement: El Paso High School is the most "haunted place in El Paso." When we asked Sun City residents, the historic high school by far received the highest number of mentions. The stories swirling around the school's halls are as legendary as they are numerous. Some people point to ghostly videos taken inside the school as evidence of paranormal activity, while others swear they spotted spooky things while they were students.
