El Paso patient attributes successful recovery to his physical therapists

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- 76-year-old Roy Guinn is counting his blessings this Christmas season after falling earlier this year. Guinn told ABC-7 he was working on his garden at home when he tripped and fell. He immediately called his wife for help.
An ambulance would arrive minutes later, and Guinn would undergo surgery the next day.
Guinn embarked on a journey towards healing. He would undergo physical therapy over the next few months, meeting with specialists to regain movement.
Heather Almodovar, the therapy supervisor at Las Palmas Del Sol Rehab East, helped Guinn recover.
"How can we figure out how to get you to do this again? Like, we might have to modify it. It might not be exactly how you want to do it right now, but we can figure out how to get you to do it. And then from there, work on your goals," she said.
Guinn began to make progress following a series of exercises. One of his biggest motivations was an upcoming vacation to Europe.
"Whether we had that goal or not, that certainly has helped. It's helped a lot," he told ABC-7.
Almodovar said she sees anywhere between 60 to 80 patients each month, including Guinn.
Guinn said he's thankful for the ongoing support and encouragement of his physical therapists.
"So my progress, it it was very encouraging having a really good, positive attitude and appreciating the hard work that the staff put out," he said.
