Stop the Bleed event at Pebble Hills High School

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- Students at Pebble Hills High School received training that could potentially save lives. This training is provided by a community service program called Stop the Bleed. The program is provided by the non-profit ProAction.

High School seniors across the Socorro Independent School District will receive instruction free of charge. The instruction included how to make and use a tourniquet and how to keep pressure on a wound to prevent extreme blood loss, according to ProAction.

Organizers say this training could be life saving in many situations. "If there is a medical emergency like a car accident, motorcycle accident, heaven forbid there's an accident at home. Instead of freezing and waiting for  medical emergency to help, they now have the resources and the knowledge to be able to do something to mitigate and hopefully save somebody," said one of the Assistant Principals at Pebble Hills High School, Melissa Gardner.

According to ProAction it could only take about three to seven minutes to die from blood loss, which is why they say this training is so important.
