Canutillo school district celebrates 60 years at Diamond Jubilee this Saturday
EL PASO, Texas - Canutillo ISD and the Canutillo Alumni Foundation for Education (CAFÉ) will host a Diamond Jubilee this Saturday, December 14 to commemorate 60 years since its establishment in 1959, and the entire community is celebrating.
District leaders are pleased with the recent accomplishments that could be considered one of the most memorable seasons Canutillo ISD has ever experienced.
"The Canutillo and surrounding communities have really taken notice of the remarkable progress our district has achieved over the years," said CISD Board President Sergio Coronado. "We have a lot to be proud of and this is the perfect time to celebrate."
The celebration will be from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Grace Gardens Grand Ballroom, 6701 Westside Drive and is open to the public. The event will include dinner and feature live music, door prizes, and a silent auction where attendees could win prizes like a free night's stay in a hotel. Memorabilia on loan from alumni and friends of the district will be on exhibit.
Event coordinator and Canutillo alum, Sergio Martinez, encourages alumni, current and former teachers, administrators and other employees, residents, friends and supporters of the school district to join the celebration.
"There have been so many good things coming out of the District lately and we, as a whole community, join with them to celebrate what Canutillo has become today," Martinez said. "This event honors the heritage and people of the past and the present."
Headlining the dance party will be El Paso band and Canutillo natives, Mainstreet. Local singer and Canutillo High School student, Joshua Lucero, will perform during dinner.
