New Mexico Wine Fest returns for Memorial day weekend
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico– The New Mexico Wine Festival kicks off its annual three day event and welcomes thousands of people back to the Southern State Fairgrounds.
Chris Goblet, Executive Director of New Mexico Wine, told ABC-7 that this is the first festival back since the start of the pandemic.
He said the ticket sales have been the highest they have seen in many years, and said he expects this to be one of the largest festivals they have had in recent memory.
The festival features 17 wineries throughout New Mexico, over 15 food trucks, vendors as well as live entertainment.
Goblet said this year they welcomed everybody back with a garden theme– called “Wonder Through the Wine Garden '' where they have included new activities like flower pressing and cake decorating.
With the high turnout, he said people are excited to come back out and enjoy all the festival has to offer.
“First festival since 2019, this feels like pre-pandemic levels of excitement for the wine festival, you can see the smile on my face, and it's pretty much on everyones in the entire facility here, just how excited they are to see the return of this event,” said Goblet.
The festival will be open all weekend long from May 28 through the 30th, starting from noon to 6 p.m.
Ticket prices are $35, and it includes a sampling glass.
