Congresswoman Veronica Escobar named chair of Biden re-election campaign
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar has been named as one of seven co-chairs of President Joe Biden's re-election campaign.
Escobar is the only Texan and only border representative named to the campaign's leadership team.
Biden announced that he is running for re-election Tuesday. The announcement was made in a video posted to social media. The election will be held in November 2024. While neither party has held a primary election yet, former President Donald Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Several other Democrats have also announced that they will run for president.
Other Biden campaign chairs include congressmembers from Delaware, South Carolina, and Illinois. Also included, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and former Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
