Car crashes into Ruidoso restaurant: Clovis woman dead, 2 others injured
A Clovis woman was killed, her husband critically injured and a third person was also hurt when a car crashed into the restaurant where they were dining on Friday night, authorities told ABC-7.
It happened at Farley’s Food, Fun and Pub at 1200 Mechem Drive about 7 p.m.
New Mexico State Police on Saturday identified the deceased as 58-year old Sotero Acuna of Clovis; her 58-year-old husband was flown by helicopter to University Medical Center in El Paso with life-threatening injuries. There was no word on his condition Saturday.
Police said a third person, a 75-year-old woman, was being treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities said the crash occurred when an elderly woman leaving the restaurant accidently put her car into drive as opposed to reverse while trying to back out of a parking spot. The three victims were struck when the car came crashing through a restaurant wall.
The driver of the car was not hurt and police said Saturday that she would not face any charges.
