ANTHONY, New Mexico -- A 13-year-old girl was assaulted by a group of girls and left to die near a playground Saturday, the girl's mother says.

"The people that were there, how can you leave my little girl alone to die? You guys are animals to leave a little girl to die," Esmeralda Torrez told ABC-7.

Torrez said she dropped her daughter off at a friends house, and spoke to the girl's grandmother. She told her to not let her daughter go out, and left her number if she had any questions.

A few hours later, Torrez said she got a call saying they're reviving her daughter. Her daughter was flown to El Paso Children's Hospital to receive treatment.

Torrez said she was going crazy when she got the call, "When I got to see her, they had tubes, IVs, everything down her throat. To see her like that was hard."

Torrez said this incident is currently under investigation, so she wasn't able to give much information of what happened. She did say several girls jumped her daughter, then took her to a separate location and left her there. Torrez said the girls told police her daughter had overdosed, but she said the results came back negative.

"The left her for dead, they knew she wasn't dead," said Torrez.

Torrez is pressing charges against all the girls involved and she said she wants them charged for attempted murder.
