‘We’re looking for solutions’: Boxing champ and comedian lead Las Cruces ‘Black Lives Matter’ town hall meeting
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Boxing champ Austin Trout and comedian Tommy Black led a discussion in downtown Las Cruces Saturday night around police brutality.
"We're looking for solutions," Austin Trout told ABC-7.
Trout said the mayor of Las Cruces, members of the city council and state Sen. Jeff Steinborn were on hand to listen to residents' concerns about the national and local state of law enforcement.
"We'll let them know, 'If you want our vote, this is what we want,'" explained Trout.
The event was held at the Plaza de Las Cruces.
"Tonight is about asking, 'what is the next step?'" Trout said. "We have the protesting, we have the marching, but how can we get and implement true change in our community?
