LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagashima issued an emergency proclamation Friday that expands upon the face mask order issued by New Mexico's governor.

Earlier this week, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham ordered New Mexicans to wear face masks in public places and said people who ignore the mask requirement could be fined $100.

Miyagashima is expanding on that, requiring businesses to mandate to that customers and employees wear face coverings. Those businesses that flout the order can be fined $100 per person not complying inside their establishments.

The mayor's order goes into effect at midnight and contains only three exceptions to the need to wear a mask: Children under the age of three, people with documented health conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask, and those who are eating, drinking or exercising.

  1. If we had a President, all of this could have been taken care of in a uniform manner nationwide months ago and we might not be in the position we’re in now.

    1. We have a President and he’s kicking the snot out of ilk like you. That’s why you hate him. If he was as stupid as you say he is you wouldn’t care. He knows exactly what he’s doing and he’s winning and it scares you and you don’t like it. Hence, your deep hatred. Take off the blinders buddy and get over it.

        1. you know good and well ANY plan put out there by Trump would be met with opposition. He’s too smart for that and showed how much he is about state/individual rights. If you want a liberal utopia move to Washington where they have a summer of love. Or Oregon where they are all tolerant and peaceful

    2. That senile shithead Biden said, “My plan will put 720 million women to work”, in a country and only has a little over 300 million people.

  2. If there is increase testing there will be increased positives, there will also be an increase in negatives. Pretty much the entire line of cars at the Las Cruces testing facility had Texas license plates and nobody looked sick in their car. Do El Paso residents coming to DA county for testing get counted here or EP

      1. That maybe people are coming in from other areas and getting reported as positives in DA county. I know it’s hard to comprehend with your TDS but tell me where I am wrong. I admittedly do not know the process and am interested in what info you must provide at the drive through centers in order for the positive to be reported to the correct area. Another point which I made long long ago was that the positives were being underreported and would increase as we got closer to election, I was right….but I’m sure your ego/tds won’t allow that to process
