Five firefighters shocked by electricity while fighting blaze in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Officials with the City of Las Cruces say five firefighters were injured while fighting a fire on the 1400 block of Branding Iron Circle Wednesday morning.

When crews arrived, the city says fire was coming out of several windows of a house. The crews got the fire under control within 15 minutes.

The five firefighters suffered minor injuries. An ambulance took one of them to the hospital. He is now recovering at home.

A total of 29 firefighters responded to the fire.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started. The house suffered an estimated $70,000 in damage.
