Texans asked to send cards in celebration of World War II veteran’s 100th birthday

BIG SPRING, Texas (KVIA) -- Texas Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham is asking everyone to help a World War II Veteran celebrate his 100th birthday.

The commissioner is organizing a birthday card drive for U.S. Army Corporal Carl Reid, who turns 100 on June 15.

Reid requested 100 birthday cards to celebrate the landmark day. Reid started serving in the army in 1944. He farmed land and ranched before his service. During his service, Reid received the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.

Texans are asked to send cards to the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas. You can find the address here.
