Sunday Funday Moment: El Paso kids sing Christmas songs to injured pets at Northeast Veterinary clinic

EL PASO, Texas-- A few young El Paso music students spent their Sunday morning last weekend singing Christmas music to injured animals at Northeast Veterinary clinic in hopes of calming them while they dealt with their injuries.

"I feel like music is a really powerful thing," said Sophia Mendez Sanchez, Social Media coordinator for Northeast Veterinary clinic. Sanchez has witnessed animals with many different types of injuries enter their clinic.

"We have a case here today, his name is Miles. He saved his fur family from being attacked by coyotes. He himself got attacked and he's here getting bandaids for them," said Sanchez.

She encouraged the young future musicians to go to the veterinary clinic to sing Christmas music to the injured animals in hopes of a speedier recovery from their injuries.

"I feel like most people can relate to music in the different emotions that we feel as humans, and dogs feed off of that energy from us. So, coming and singing to them while they're not feeling well, I felt like it would help get them through a speedier recovery," said Sanchez.

The students ages ranged from 3 to 8 years old. They sang some of their favorite songs which included Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

For the young students, it felt good knowing that they were helping the animals feel a little bit better all while doing what they like doing best, singing.
