Alamogordo man sentenced to life in prison for 2020 murder
ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico -- A 32-year-old Alamogordo man was sentenced to life in prison on Friday, May 13, for a 2020 murder carried out with an AK-47.
According to the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney, Scot D. Key, Christopher Huble, 32, was sentenced for the murder of Harley Benedict in April.
Key says Huble confronted Benedict on August 20, 2020, after discovering Benedict in his ex-girlfriend's bedroom.
Key says Huble ordered his ex-girlfriend and Benedict to leave the home that was his previous residence, a home that he had let go into foreclosure.
When Benedict refused, Key says Huble went to retrieve an AK-47 and 30 rounds of ammunition.
Key says Huble shot and killed Benedict with nine or more rounds as Benedict exited the home and walked into the driveway.
In addition to the life sentence, Huble was sentenced to four years for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon with a firearm enhancement.
