San Elizario woman found guilty of illegally entering daughter’s school

Update: A jury found Garcia guilty of criminal trespass. She was sentenced to six months probation, 100 hours of community service, and a $700 probated fine.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office issued the following statement, describing how they first arrested Garcia in 2021.

"In 2021, El Paso County Sheriff's Detectives assigned to the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station responded to a criminal trespass report at San Elizario Middle School. Detectives met with school administration, who informed them that 30-year-old Casey Garcia posed as her 13-year-old daughter and attended several classes throughout the school day. Garcia posted her trespassing on TikTok's social media platform, citing that she was trying to make a point by proving the ease with which an adult could enter the campus. Detectives later obtained a warrant of arrest for Garcia for criminal trespass."

SAN ELIZARIO, Texas (KVIA) -- A woman accused of trespassing on school grounds and posing as a San Elizario ISD student is now on trial.

In 2021, police say Casey Garcia posted her alleged trespassing onto social media. She made several posts, including one titled "Going to school as my 13-year-old daughter (Middle School edition)". At the time, Garcia said she was trying to make a point by proving the ease with which an adult could enter the campus. Garcia claimed in the video that her daughter attended the school Garcia allegedly illegally entered. Garcia was 30 years old when police arrested her.

Deputies later obtained warrants for Garcia's arrest and took her into custody at her home. They initially booked her into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $7,900 bond. Officers initially charged Garcia with criminal trespass, tampering with government records, and an outstanding traffic warrant. Garcia is now on trial for just one charge: criminal trespass.
