Crimes Against Persons investigate a shooting in El Paso’s lower valley

Update: One person has been taken into custody after an officer involved-shooting Sunday night.

According to a spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department, the call originally came in as a family violence call.

They say police officers arrived at the home they noticed a 27-year-old man seen with a weapon.

The man then went back inside the home. Police tried to deescalate the situation and attempted to convince him to come out.

They say that's when they saw the man point a gun at one of the officers. Prompting them to discharge their weapon.

Shortly after it is said the man came out of the home and turned himself into police.

No one was injured during the shooting.

Police say there is now danger to the community.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police responded to the 300 block of Ramona in the lower valley Sunday.

Crimes Against Persons Detectives are taking over the investigation since a police officer fired his gun.

It happened Sunday evening.
