Crews continue to contain Iron Fire

Update: As of early Sunday morning, May 11, the fire is now 92% contained.


SILVER CITY, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Fire crews continue to make progress in containing the Iron Fire, which officials say started Sunday, May 4, due to lightning.

According to data from the U.S. Forest Service, the fire is now 77% contained, and is down to 482 acres in size.

At its peak, the fire grew to over 900 acres.
