CBP preparing environmental assessment for new Border Patrol station in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Las Cruces City Representative Michael Harris confirmed with ABC-7 that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is preparing to look at areas in the city for a new Border Patrol station.

CBP send the letter to City Manager Ikani Taumoepeau March 4. The letter details the station would be about 30 to 40 acres in size with the goal of increasing personnel and border security in the El Paso-Las Cruces area.

ABC-7 reached out to CBP for comment, but have not heard back.
