Thousands of North Korean troops in Russia. What does that mean for the war with Ukraine?

Associated Press

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — American and South Korean officials say there’s evidence that thousands of North Korean troops are now in Russia near Ukraine’s border. At a press conference Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the North Korean soldiers are preparing to join the fight against Ukrainian troops in the coming days. If they go into Ukraine, it would be the first time a third country has put boots on the ground in the war. Iran has supplied Russia with drones and Western nations have provided Ukraine with modern weapons, financial and humanitarian assistance. Ukraine’s president says Russia is testing the West’s reactions, and if the reaction is weak, there could be more soldiers deployed.
