American women settle lawsuit with U.S. Soccer Federation on unequal working conditions with men, to appeal wage claims

KVIA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — U.S. Soccer and the women’s national team have settled the players’ legal claim over inequitable working conditions, putting to rest a part of the team’s gender discrimination lawsuit. The parties filed notice of the settlement in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The settlement allows the players to appeal their claim that the men’s team is paid more, which a federal judge dismissed earlier this year. As a result of the settlement, U.S. Soccer has agreed to equitable working conditions related to such things as travel, accommodations, venues and staffing.
