El Paso Locomotive FC move to five games in a row unbeaten
SAN DIEGO, California (KVIA) -- El Paso Locomotive FC (West-4, 4-3-1, 13 points) is now unbeaten in five matches after Saturday night’s 2-1 win against San Diego Loyal SC.
The win handed Loyal their first home defeat in 2023 and keep the Locos undefeated on the road this season.
In the 14th minute Forward Ricardo Zacarias had a shot on goal which deflected off Defender Kyle Adams leg and into the goal. The goal was credited to Zacarias, who now has three goals this season.
San Diego would find a way back into the match in the 61st minute thanks to an effort from midfielder Tumi Moshobane. However, the draw was short-lived, lasting only four minutes.
Stringing several passes from the back, the ball would eventually land at the feet of forward Luis “Lucho” Solignac who quickly passed it to midfielder Denys Kostyshyn who touched the ball forward and shot a left-footer past an incoming Koke Vegas.
Despite Loyal’s best efforts to find an equalizer in the dying minutes, Locomotive held on to their 2-1 lead to beat San Diego for the first time in club history.
The Locomotive will next play at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday, May 5th at 7 p.m.
