Aggies fall to 0-2 in WAC play with a 75-62 loss to Sam Houston State

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- New Mexico State lost 75-62 to Sam Houston State, marking their second straight loss in conference play, something that hasn't happened since 2010.

The Bearkats were feeling it from long range early, that saw them jump out to a 33-15 lead with just over 5 minutes left in the first half.

The Aggies cut that to 13 at the break but the closest they would get in the second half was 10 points. Every time they went on a run the Bearkats had an answer.

Sam Houston would hold onto their double-digit lead all the way until the end of the game where they won 75-62.

Both Xavier Pinson and DaJuan Gordon led the team with 13 points on the night. While the team as a whole shot 45.7% from the floor, 36% from the three and over 60% from the line.

Head Coach Greg Heiar said post game the team wasn't doing the things that are controllable well enough.

The Aggies next play at Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, Jan. 4th at 6.30 p.m.
