NM State are still in search of their first road win in WAC play after a 78-67 loss to GCU

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Aggies may have secured their first two wins in WAC play last week but on Wednesday night in front of a rowdy and intense GCU crowd they couldn't get their first road win in WAC play.

NMSU struggled early finding themselves down 11-2 but that first half lead would grow to as much as 18 for GCU.

To the Aggies credit they found a way back in and got as close as 1 in the second half with 12:34 left but GCU immediately pulled away.

The comeback from NMSU was led by Xavier Pinson who had 22 points on the night. Meanwhile three other players also scored in double figures - Deshawndre Washington (11), Doctor Bradley (11) and DaJuan Quaye Gordon.

NMSU shot just over 28% from the field in the first half and they increased that to nearly 54% in the second half which equaled out to 40% for the entire game. The Lopes on the other hand shot over 60% from the floor.

The Aggies will get another shot at a conference road win when they play at California Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 11th at 8 p.m.

NMSU now move to 2-10 in WAC play and remain at the bottom of the conference standings.
