Women’s soccer signee has deep ties to El Paso, UTEP
EL PASO, Texas -- The UTEP women’s soccer team has signed a defender who has deep ties to El Paso and the Miners.
Ashley Padilla, from Albuquerque, signed a national letter of intent to attend UTEP and play for the Miners, beginning in the fall season, UTEP head coach Kathryn Balogun announced Wednesday.
Padilla was born in El Paso and both of her parents attended UTEP.
Padilla played her club soccer with New Mexico Rush and the Colorado Rush Academy.
Assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Stewart Givens said she is a “proven offensive threat” who has played in numerous high-profile events.
“She led her team as a tough defender who can play in a few different positions along the back line, but also adds in to the attack by getting forward and contributing with goals and assists,” Givens said.
