Major changes in student federal aid: FAFSA application is easier and simpler this year
EL PASO, TX (KVIA) -- Students and parents can expect significant changes in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As a result of the major changes, the 2024-2025 FAFSA application won't open until December.
The first major change is the simplification of the FAFSA application. The 108-question form has now been trimmed down to just 36 questions. This is designed to encourage more students to apply, making the application process faster and easier.
Another significant change, families with more than one child in college will no longer receive additional financial aid benefits. However, students living with a single parent or those who are parents themselves may find greater eligibility for federal or state grants.
