EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The YMCA of El Paso Friday announced the resignation of its CEO, Bill Coon.

According to Coon's Facebook page, he started with the YMCA in August 2013.

The board of directors appointed Peter Moody as interim CEO. Moody has been with the YMCA of El Paso for five years, most recently as COO.

“We believe that Peter’s extensive leadership experience and close involvement with operations positions him to lead the YMCA of El Paso effectively following Mr. Coon's departure,“ said Margie Salazar, YMCA of El Paso chairwoman.

A news release from the YMCA thanked Mr. Coon for his contribution. The board of directors will search for a permanent CEO in the near future.
