El Paso sheriff’s inmate van crashes, forces closure of northbound Loop 375 at Montwood
EL PASO, Texas -- Traffic was snarled for the Friday afternoon commute when a crash involving an El Paso County Sheriff's Office van used to transport prisoners forced authorities to shut down Loop 375 northbound at Montwood.
All motorists were being diverted off the highway at Montwood due to the wreck. As of 3:45 p.m., authorities said it was expected to be several hours before the road could be re-opened. The scene was cleared just after 6:45 p.m.
Officials said the sheriff's van and a car collided; two deputies were taken to the hospital with minor injuries from the crash - but no other injuries were reported.
