EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said a pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on I-10 West near Horizon Thursday morning.

Deputies blocked off the westbound lanes of the freeway near Harnose following the 7 a.m. crash. The interstate finally reopened around 11 a.m.

ABC-7's TxDOT cameras captured a person being taken to the hospital, and a semi-trailer on scene. The sheriff's office has not said if or how the semi-trailer was involved.

Drivers were forced for hours to take Gateway West, and re-enter the freeway at Eastlake.
