El Paso motorcylist dies after crashing into a car, then being run over by truck on I-10
EL PASO, Texas -- A motorcyclist has died from injuries he suffered after he crashed into the rear of a car and then was struck by truck, El Paso police said Monday.
The now-deadly crash occurred on Interstate 10 westbound approaching Hawkins in east El Paso around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
Officers identified the victim as 19-year-old Jesus Enrique Herrera.
As was the case in a number of deadly or near-deadly crashes over the weekend, investigators said Herrera was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. He was also "passing vehicles and weaving in and out of traffic" while speeding, according to a police incident report.
After his motorcycle struck the car, police said Herrera was thrown off it and slid across multiple lanes of the highway before being run over by a semi-truck whose driver was unable to avoid him.
He was rushed to a local hospital following the incident with severe injuries and later died.
