San Elizario motorcyclist dies after collision with car

UPDATE, April 12: A motorcyclist who crashed into a car over the weekend has now died of his injuries, police said Monday.

Officers identified him as 25–year-old Ricardo Mota of San Elizario. Police said he died at University Medical Center, where he was taken following Sunday's crash in the 4700 block of Dyer Street.

The driver and a passenger in the car weren't injured.

Mota's death was El Paso's 18th traffic fatality of 2021, compared to
22 at this same time last year.

ORIGINAL REPORT, April 11: EL PASO, Texas -- A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a car Sunday evening along a busy northeast El Paso street.

The motorcycle-car crash happened just before 5 p.m. in the 4700 block of Dyer Street, just south of Fred Wilson Avenue.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

No further details were immediately available.
