22-year-old motorcyclist dies after colliding with car, tree and pole in east El Paso

UPDATE: Police on Thursday identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash the previous night as 22-year-old Jeffrey Seth Lopez of east El Paso.

Investigators indicated the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a vehicle making a turn from Saul Kleinfeld onto the 1800 block of Zaragoza about 11 p.m.

"As a result of the collision, Lopez began to slide on the road, struck a tree and a pole and died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained," police wrote in an incident report.

Lopez was the city's 68th traffic death of the year, compared to 67 at this time a year ago in El Paso.

ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas -- A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car late Wednesday night at an east El Paso intersection.

Police traffic investigators were summoned to the deadly crash scene at N. Zaragoza Road and Crested Quail Drive around 11:30 p.m.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the site of the wreck.

No further details were immediately available.
