Daily high temperature records shattered

UPDATE: Today, we shattered daily high-temperature records across multiple locations. At the El Paso International Airport, the previous record of 103 degrees set in 1994 was eclipsed as temperatures soared to 104 degrees.

Deming Airport, which had set a record of 100 degrees in 2020, experienced a new high of 101 degrees today. At Alamogordo Airport, we matched the 2023 record of 100 degrees. Las Cruces Airport saw its 2019 record of 99 degrees surpassed with a new high of 100 degrees. Meanwhile, Grant County Airport broke its 2018 record of 96 degrees by reaching 97 degrees today. These unprecedented temperatures continue a trend of above-average heat for August, with our average high this month hovering around 102 degrees. If this trend persists, we could be on the verge of setting a new record for the hottest August on record.
