ABC-7 First Alert: Strong cold front brings gusty winds, rain, and snow showers
The ABC-7 First Alert remains in effect through Thursday as a strong cold front moves through the area. Today will feel a lot like spring with temperatures climbing to the 70s and winds peaking around 40 mph.
There are several weather alerts in place including a Wind Advisory, High Wind Warnings for eastern counties, and a Fire Weather Warning, do not burn, it is very dry and windy these are the perfect conditions for wildfires to develop and spread fast.
Patchy-blowing dust will be an issue for drivers. You might want to consider wearing a mask if your allergies have been acting up or if you have respiratory issues. The winds will continue through tomorrow tonight and tomorrow morning will become slick, please drive carefully.
This weather system will bring in moisture and cold air the heavy snow will fall over the Gila and Black Range region, the Sacramento mountains, and the Bootheel of New Mexico. The El Paso and Las Cruces areas will see light snow.
Temperatures remain warm today but it will be cold tomorrow, temperatures will only reach the upper 40s. Dress warmly. The rest of the week, and the weekend will be warmer and nice.
