Las Cruces Public School to operate on 2-hour delay Tuesday

Update (5:50 PM): Canutillo ISD will operate on normal schedule Tuesday.


Update (5:40 PM): Las Cruces Public Schools will have a two-hour delay Tuesday. The district sent out the following details:

"Due to freezing temperatures and the potential for foggy driving conditions, Las Cruces Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, January 27, in an effort to ensure the safety of students and staff. 

Under the two-hour delay: 

All schools will begin two hours later than their normal start time. Breakfast will still be served.  

Staff should report to work according to their contract hours. Employees with extenuating circumstances are encouraged to make arrangements with their principal or supervisor. 

District officials will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the event and appreciate the community’s flexibility as LCPS takes precautionary measures to keep students safe. 

For updates, families are encouraged to monitor their ParentSquare app, visit the LCPS website, and follow the district’s official social media channels."


Update (January 26, 2026): Ysleta ISD will operate normally Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after winter storm conditions caused the district to delay classes by two hours today.


UPDATE: 7:56 PM - Gadsden ISD has updated their delayed start plan. The morning 3-year-old preschool classes have been canceled. The remaining preschool programs will be on an adjusted schedule.


UPDATE: 7:53 PM - The Fabens ISD implements a 2-hour delay for all campuses and office. "We have exercised extreme caution in making this decision, as the safety of students and staff is our utmost priority," said a released from the district.


UPDATE 5:51 PM - Sunshine Christian School grades K5-6th grade will be on a two-hour delay. PS and K4 classes are cancelled.

La Fe Preparatory School is also on two-hour delay.


UPDATE: 4:15 PM - Burnham Wood Charter School District and Vista del Futuro Carter School District schools will be on a two-hour delay.


UPDATE: Clint ISD will operate on a two-hour delay. While classes begin two hours later than normal scheduled time, the campuses will be open at the regular time for those students who need to be dropped off. School buses will run on a two-hour delay from the regular pick up times.

IDEA Public Schools El Paso are on a two-hour delay. Administrators said students will be provided breakfast upon arrival. Lunch and supper service will be on regular schedule. School will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:45 p.m.

Anthony ISD students and staff will operate on a two-hour delay.

El Paso Catholic School campuses will begin instruction at 10 a.m.


UPDATE (1:56PM) - Canutillo ISD in anticipation of below freezing temperatures will operate on a two-hours delay. Classes, operations, school bus service, and breakfast will be on the two hours delay.

Canutillo ISD campuses "will be open at 6 a.m. in case any student needs to be dropped off early and needs a warm place to wait for the start of the day".

Tornillo ISD is also on a delayed start on Monday. School start times are at 10 a.m. with buses beginning pick ups at 9 a.m.


UPDATE: The Fabens ISD administration is monitoring the weather and will determine the district's course for school on Monday.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Canutillo, El Paso, Socorro and Ysleta Independent School District will be on a two-hour delay Monday, Jan. 26.

The delay is due to the inclement weather and expected freezing condition in the borderland.

All schools will begin two hours from their normal start time.

Pre K three-year-old classes are canceled.

Transportation services are also running on a two-hour delay.

The delay is also pushing back breakfast.

Gadsden ISD schools will also be on a two-hour delay. The district spokesman said, "the delayed start will allow additional time for road conditions to improve, for daylight to assist with travel, and for campus teams to complete arrival".

The Las Cruces Public Schools are on a delayed start. All secondary campuses will begin at 9:30 a.m. and bus pick ups will stat at 9 a.m.

All elementary schools are set to begin at 10 a.m. with bus pick ups at 9:30 a.m.

Staff are expected to report at their contract hours.
