El Paso leaders looking for input during search for new police chief

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- City leaders are seeking the public's help in selecting a new police chief. Former Chief Greg Allen died earlier this year.

Now, as the city begins its search for a new chief, it is releasing a survey asking El Pasoans what qualities they want in a new police chief. The search will welcome candidates from across the country, but local leadership is also invited to apply.

National recruitment firm Strategic Government Resources is meeting with city council and other people in city leadership to find out what kind of candidate they want to hire.

Peter Pacillas was named interim chief shortly after Allen's death. He will remain in control of the police department until the new permanent chief is named.
