Texas Democratic Convention happening in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- June 6th kicked off the 2024 Texas Democratic Convention. Thousands gathered in El Paso rallying together in hopes of a big win in November.

The kick-off reception was hosted by Senator Cesar Blanco and Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and held at the Paso Del Norte hotel in downtown El Paso. Senator Cesar Blanco says he's happy the texas democratic part choose to have to convention in El Paso. It has been 20 years since the Texas Democratic Convention was held in El Paso.

The sold out Kick-off reception had an impressive line up of speakers, including Beto O’Rourke, Gabby Giffords, Representative Ron Reynolds, Houston councilwoman Abbie Kamin and Harris county district attorney candidate Sean Teare.

Beto O’Rourke talked about how hopefully he is for future of the Democratic party. Congresswoman Veronica Escobar said "this is the most important election of our lifetime."
