Steelers to retire Franco Harris’ No. 32 on Christmas Eve
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are retiring the No. 32 worn by Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris in December. The decision to retire Harris’ number comes on the 50th anniversary of the “Immaculate Reception”. The play featuring Harris plucking a pass out of mid-air and then racing to the end zone for a touchdown to steal a playoff victory over Oakland is considered one of the most iconic in NFL history. This is the third time the Steelers will retire a number. They previously retired the No. 75 of defensive tackle Joe Greene and No. 70 of defensive lineman Ernie Stautner.
