Tornillo High School teacher arrested, accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to boys
TORNILLO, Texas -- A teacher at Tornillo High School has been arrested on accusations of having "improper relationships with students," sheriff's officials said Wednesday.
Andres Soliz, 32, was being held Wednesday in the El Paso County Detention Facility on $40,000 bond. He was charged with two felony counts of improper relationship between educator and student.
Court documents obtained by ABC-7 contend that Soliz sent and solicited repeated sexually explicit text messages with two boys last month; the mothers of those students became aware of the "inappropriate" messages and brought them to the attention of the principal.
Soliz was taken into custody on Tuesday, deputies said, after investigators obtained an arrest warrant following a roughly week-long probe into the allegations. Authorities also indicated additional charges in the case were possible.
The sheriff's office was notified by school officials on Dec. 2 about the text messaging accusations that had surfaced against Soliz, who was placed on indefinite administrative leave pending an investigation.
School officials told ABC-7 they will now recommend that the school board fire Soliz at its meeting next Monday.
