Watch: Fire engulfs mobile home in East El Paso
UPDATE- A spokesman with the El Paso Fire Department told ABC-7 that the fire was determined to be intentional. EPFD also said that it is suspected to have been started by one of the kids that were in the house.
Maria Martinez, the mother of the children and the owner of the home, disputed EPFD's report. She told ABC-7 that her daughter was playing with a lighter and paper.
"It was not intentional," said Martinez, " But then she like said no, [and] started crying. When that happened. The Marshall started telling her and then she's like, no, I got the lighter and I was playing with the paper and I threw it to the sink and I turned it off and she's like, But I didn't see no more fire."
ABC-7 spoke with Kenneth Rodriguez, a witness who took video of the fire.
"I don't know if I heard of a family member in there, but just in the panic. So immediately I started running over here thinking to see what I could do to maybe hose down the fire. I was looking for a water hose or some way, you know, to get in or out," said Rodriguez.
UPDATE - ABC-7 reached out to the El Paso Fire Department and was told that the four people were forced to evacuate the home when it caught fire Monday afternoon.
It was an adult and three kids, with the fire breaking out at around 4:30 in the afternoon.
The American Red Cross has been notified to assist. No injuries were reported and EPFD says the investigation is ongoing.
