Construction begins on Mexican side of border on Tornillo port of entry

The consulate general offices of Mexico and the United States announced Thursday that construction has begun on the Guadalupe-Tornillo International Bridge on the Mexican side and is expected to be completed in July 2014.

The American side is already finished and port inspection booths are nearly complete.

The bridge will have six lanes, three in each direction, and inspection facilities.

Operations are expected to begin during the second half of 2014.
