City Reps look into making Mesa Street safer for pedestrians

of a number of pedestrians. we’re talking about mesa street between stanton and oregon… where multiple people have died trying to cross the street. it’s an urgent public safety issue along the university corridor. that’s why city planners have designed a number of proposals that the public and business community will look at to see how they can make the area safer for pedestrians. residents in district 1 are meeting at mesity elementary to discuss the changes tonight at 6 o’clock. joing us now is district 1 representative, peter svarzbein to give us a preview of the plan and why the changes are so important now. time now for a preview of abc-7 at 5 everything is pretty conceptual right now. during the campaigns several people reached out to me from the community. there are a lot of concerns. a lot of people are killed in the area every single year. single year. i think business owners want to see a change in the area. university and resdients as well. we’re trying to find solutions to the problems in an open and honest conversation. how can we make it more responsive to people at the university? i think now is the time to do that — before the streetcars are up and running in a few years. time now for a preview of abc-7 at 5 time now for a preview of abc-7 at 5 with rick cabrera. rick? public officials to insist and bring that plan in piece by piece. part of today is about that plan… but it’s also about safety. time now for a preview of abc-7 at 5
