Fort Bliss soldier dies in non-combat related incident

A Fort Bliss soldier is dead following a non-combat related incident.

The Department of Defense issued a news release stating Spc. John P. Rodriguez died on January 12th at the U.S Army Central Command. Rodriguez was supporting the U.S Army Central Command, which is located in Tampa, Florida.

It’s unclear what happened, but officials say Rodriguez died in a “non-combat related incident.” The incident is under investigation.

Rodriguez is from Hemet, California. He was assigned to the 2nd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armor Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Ft. Bliss.
