Man hospitalized after stabbing

A man has been hospitalized after being stabbed in the lower valley before 10 am this morning in the Carolina Park, at the Officer David Ortiz Rec Center. The suspect is now in custody.

Police got a call about the stabbing around 9:48 am Sunday.

Officers arrived at the David Ortiz Rec center and saw a man had been stabbed, and he was then taken to the hospital.

Police said the suspect was apprehended a short distance away, and we saw a second crime scene across the street at a Dollar General.

ABC-7 spoke with a group of skaters who saw a man flee the rec center shortly before first responders arrived.

“We were standing here at the skate park, at the upper level. We noticed this individual running down the street. As he was running he was looking behind him as if someone was chasing him, and that’s when he stumbled.he must have slipped on a crack on the sidewalk or something. He fell down, he got up and then he ran across the street to the Dollar General,” said Isaac

A man we spoke to at the second crime scene said he had been the one to find the stabbing victim. The man continued to speak with police as the Dollar General was taped off. A family member told ABC-7 the victim was doing ok at the hospital.
